Ball Security, Shooting Will Headline The West
Expect to see a lot of West players attending camps like these
NAH teams are gradually finding their GMs, and although only eight have committed so far, three in the East and five in the West, we can already draw some conclusions about the more complete of the two conferences.
1. There's going to be a lot of teams preaching ball security and shooting accuracy[/b]
The arrival of Jestor with the Lakers, Billy_Bucket with the Houston Rockets, and mgtr81 with the Golden State Warriors means three GMs installed who place a high premium on limiting turnovers and converting shots at a high rate. All three GMs are traditionally known for building their teams around smart shooters who know how to take care of the rock, and it's our expectation that in more years than not, we'll see the Lakers, Rockets, and Warriors near the top of the leaderboards in fewest team turnovers surrendered and highest team shooting percentage.
2. Natural rivalries are going to develop between the Rockets/Jazz and Lakers/Warriors
Although the Rockets and Utah Jazz aren't in the same division, Bucket and stockton12 are known for generating at least casual rivalries in other leagues, and with both of them in the same conference, the incentive is there for a more intense form of competition. A Jestor/mgtr81 team matchup always draws fans, no matter the venue, given the similarities between their two styles and their status as co-commissioners elsewhere.
3. The San Antonio Spurs could be a team that quietly sneaks up on people
Much like the former NBA Spurs, who were understated and perhaps underrated due to organizational philosophy and small market size, the NAH edition is one that might perhaps fly under the radar in the early going. cyrisnyte, who was tapped for the position, does not have quite the extensive history and record that the other conference GMs presently do, nor the established flashiness of his current confernce mates. But he's careful in his trade negotiations and isn't going to make a deal that trainwrecks his franchise, and that type of intelligent leadership bodes well for the Silver and Black.
Given that there's only three GMs in the East at the moment, there's not enough bodies to be able to make accurate commentary or present a general sense of the direction in which the conference might go. Should we hear the sound of braying in South Beach in the near future, however, that situation may quickly change, as DWK and Cleasby of the New York Knicks and Detroit Pistons respectively are known to be active trades, with Cleasby clearly favoring the defensive side of the ball, and Chicago Bulls head Jamal joins Jestor, Billy_Bucket, and mgtr81 in the ranks of current and former commissioners of previous leagues who should make the NAH a very competitive league in its own right.
Also, the NAH recently released its first CBA, with some clauses that will make it distinct from other basketball leagues around the globe.
