With the second overall pick in the 1996 GAH draft, the Washington Bullets select guard Steve Nash from Santa Clara. Some were debating who will go first, Kidd or Nash. In terms of playmaking both are elite talents. The differences? Kidd is the much better defender, while Nash is the purest shooter. In a league that has seen defense succeed so often, it was predictable to see Kidd being selected ahead of Nash. Still, Nash has all the tools to become a franchise point guard who can lead a team to a title, in the way Hall of Hamer Paul Westphal did with the Phoenix Suns or more recently Tim Hardaway with the Miami Heat. Fans in Washington will be happy, as a backcourt formed by Nash and Reggie Miller will sure offer many great basketball games.

Bullets needed a PG for like 10 yrs!! This will help a lot.
Wonder what would've been with Rice still in Wash....lethal weapon three-ish....but a great selection for Washington for sure.
