Another European GM arrives to the league
The Central division is the best example of the emergence of the Old Continent in the NAH GM world.
Bulls and Pistons came first giving full GM responsabilities to Cleasby and Jamal, followed by Cavs reaching an agreement with Dennisj. Later this week, Pacers also hired Dapralbe, following the Euro-GM fever in the division, with just the Bucks left to announce their selection.
But let's focus on Bulls franchise here, what the acquisition of Jamal means for the organization, and why he didn't think it twice after getting the call.
"I've always have some preference for eastern coast cities over the western ones in the States, maybe because of their closer feel to big European capital cities. So I had it clear that I preferably was heading east."
"Also growing up and having the first contact with the NBA in the early 90's, my room was full of posters from players from that decade. I still remember the day when Magic was diagnosed with HIV, and how he came back to play and formed the original Dream Team, that came to Europe to play in Barcelona for the Olympics.
But there was always one player's name sounding higher in my head, one star shinning above the rest, ...that one favourite poster that never left the wall of my room. And that was no other than Michael Jordan in the exact middle of the United Center court, standing ready for action guarded by the eyes of the logo."
Michael made this franchise relevant with his winning attitude and love for the game
Leaded by Jordan, the Bulls dominated the 90's with six rings, that could easily have been more didn't Michael decide to retire the first time.
That team completely changed the history of the franchise and how the rest of the world would look at it.
"My goal as Bulls GM will be focused on trying to create a team like that once again. Not literally looking for the system and bringing back Tex Winter's triangle offense, but more of the winning actitude, the desire to compete and just focus on one goal: the Larry O'brien Trophy."
"I don't really have a clear idea of how the team will look like in terms of players, since it will all depend on the position we get in the dispersal draft. Once we get to know it, we'll build our plan about what player select first to try to build our next dynasty around."
So you'd better be prepared for great times to come if you're a Bulls fan, or start feeling the fear if that's not the case. The Bulls are back, and ready to dominate once again!
