1. FINANCIAL INFORMATION
1.1. Financial figures description
Salary Cap - $58,000,000
Hard Cap - $79,460,000 (Salary Cap X 1.37)
1.2. Rookie contracts
1. First round rookies are automatically signed to a two year deal as per DDS. Teams will be able to pick up the third year option on the player prior to the start of his second season, but as previously announced, the fourth year option is banned in this league.
2. Second round rookies may be signed to the standard 1-3 contract.
3. The NAH will begin with the RFA system in its first season, but could be dropped in subsequent seasons, depending on the result of a league vote.
1.3. In season signings and cuts
1. All players signed during the regular season as free agents are signed to a minimum deal for the remainder of the season.
2. Waived players will have their old contract count against their cap, even if the player is signed to a new team.
3. A team over the salary cap can still sign a waived player, unless that signing puts the team over the hard cap.
2. TRADE RESTRICTIONS
1. There is no limit in the number of teams involved in a trade
2. All trades must follow the official NAH trade template
3. If one or both teams are over the cap, the differential between the total salaries, as computed by dividing the larger number by the smaller number must be 1.25 or less, unless one of the teams is under the salary cap by a sufficient amount to absorb a non-1.25 differential. These rules apply regardless of if DDS 3 considers the trade legal or not. The other exception to his is minimum contract trades, which can be executed regardless of the 1.25 rule, so long as the minimum contract is the only contract in the deal. If another player is included on either side, even another minimum contract player, the deal must meet the 1.25 or cap absorption rule.
4. A traded player must wait a 60-day period to be traded again. For players traded in the offseason, the first day of the 60 day period is the first day of the subsequent regular season. Note that trade restrictions could potentially be abolished in future seasons, pending league vote.
5. A player signed as a free agent in the offseason has the same 60 day restriction and counting as offseason traded players. The exception to this rule is teams re-signing their own unrenounced free agents, who will have no trade restrictions. Teams re-signing their own renounced free agents will be required to follow the same 60 day restriction as new team free agents and offseason traded players.
6. A team needs to have a 1st round pick every other year, but the pick does not have to be their own first round pick. Second round picks have no ownership requirements.
7. For a trade to be valid, all teams involved must have a minimum of 12 players and a maximum of 15 on their roster as result of the trade for all in-season and pre-renouncement stage trades. For trades after the renouncement period and before the end of free agency, teams may be under 12 players, but they can not at any point exceed the 15 player maximum.
8. A player signed as a free agent during the regular season must wait a 60-day period to be traded
9. For multi-team trades, all teams involved in the trade must be notified of all parts of the trade before the deal can be posted.
10. A trade posted and agreed by all teams involved is considered final. No edits will then be allowed until the deal is either approved or denied.
11. If a team has enough cap space to absorb the contract(s) involved, it is possible to trade nothing but cap space in a deal.
2.1 - Draft Trades
1. Trades posted before or during the draft before the first pick in the deal is made are considered trades for picks and not for rookies, and as a result, the 60 day restriction is not applied. That said, if the trade is not approved prior to the first pick in the deal, the selection must be posted by the original pick owning team and not the receiving team. If multiple picks are involved in the trade, and the deal is approved after the first pick in the trade but before the second or later picks in the trade, all selections that arrive after the deal is approved may be posted by the receiving team.
2. Trades posted after the first pick in the trade is made will be considered draft and trade deals, and any rookies involved will have the 60 day trade restriction enforced, with the first day of the restriction considered the first day of the subsequent regular season.
3. RE-SIGNING PLAYERS WITH BIRD RIGHTS AND WITHOUT BIRD RIGHTS
1. Teams who hold Bird rights (3 Bird years) on free agents (in the offseason free agency period), can re-sign them even if they are over the cap without using the MLE or LLE. However, the new deal cannot put the team over the hard cap.
2. If a team does not hold Bird Rights on a player, they will be limited to offering what they are able to other free agents not on their team. However, by not renouncing a non-Bird Rights player, teams will be able to re-sign him and continue adding to his Bird rights years. For example:
4. HARD CAP PENALTIES
1. A team cannot go over the Hard Cap except in the following situations:
1a. The team is under the Hard Cap before the draft ends, but signing rookies put it over the Hard Cap.
1b. The team needs to fill its roster. In that case, it can sign players for one-year minimum deals until a complete 12-player roster is filled.
2. The only trades a team over the Hard cap can make are those in which the total outgoing salaries are larger than the total incoming salaries. In case both incoming and outgoing salaries are exactly the same, trade will be denied.
3. When re-signing its own free agents, assuming the team holds Bird rights on them, the signing will have to put the team under the Hard Cap. If the new contract still has the team over the Hard Cap, the player will not be signed.
4. Draft-related hard cap penalties are assessed after the contract decisions phase. If, after the contract decisions phase, a team is in violation of the hard cap, the following penalties occur:
4a. The team is not permitted to go below one first round pick in the next draft they hold first round picks.
4b. If a team still holds more than one first round pick in the draft their hard cap penalty applies, the penalty will be assessed on the highest value first round pick they hold at the time of the draft.
4c. The penalty is as follows: The highest value draft pick is skipped until the very last pick in the draft is made. The hard cap team is then able to select from the remaining players, but that player will automatically have his third year option picked up and that player will be trade restricted for the entire first season of the contract.
Examples:
1. A hard cap violating team has a first round pick in the next draft and no other first rounders. They are not permitted to trade that pick unless they get other first round picks in the same draft, and the penalty is applied to the highest value first they own when the draft starts.
2. A hard cap violating team has no first round pick in the next draft, but has a single first round pick in the following draft. They are not permitted to trade that pick unless they get other first round picks in the same draft, or unless they acquire one or more first rounders in the next draft via trade, in which case the penalty will revert back to Example 1 or 3, whichever applies.
3. A hard cap violating team has pick #5, #10, and #15 in the draft their hard cap penalty applies. The #5 is skipped until the final draft selection in the second round is made, upon which they may choose who to draft from the remaining players (assuming no prior picks have hard cap penalty). That #5 player is then given the third year option and is trade restricted for his entire first season. Picks #10 and #15 will be selected as if the team had no penalty assigned to those picks.
5. FREE AGENCY
5.1. In-season free agency
1. If you want to sign a FA, check if he's fake or real. Go to www.basketball-reference.com and enter his name in the Search option located in the upper right corner of the website. The reason for this is because DDS 1 needs more players than are in the roster set or the game will crash, so fake players are used as fill-ins to reach the quota.
2. If the player exists, create a thread with the position name of the player you want to sign. Other teams will then have 24 hours to also claim that player.
3. If there's more than one claim for a player, the tiebreaker is as follows:
3.1. If his Play for Winner is 60 or less, he signs with the team with the worst record. If there's a tie for worst record, then he'll be signed by the tied team who had the worst record last season.
3.2. If his Play for Winner is higher than 60, he signs with the team with the best record. If there's a tie for best record, then he'll be signed by the tied team who had the best record last season.
5.2 Off-season free agency
Unrenounced players contracts count as cap holds in free agency.
See the financial figures in Section 1 of this CBA for the contracts which can be offered.
As for the exceptions eligibility:
If (HC - Total salaries) > (MLE + LLE), then the team has both the LLE and the MLE
If (HC - Total salaries) > MLE but < (MLE+LLE), then the team has only the MLE
If (HC - Total salaries) > LLE but < MLE, then the team has only the LLE
If (HC - Total salaries) < LLE, then the team has neither the LLE or MLE
6. ROOKIE DRAFT
1. Teams will have 24 hours to make first round picks unless they own consecutive selections, such as the San Diego Clippers with 8 and 9. The team will have 24 or 12 hours to make both those picks, not 24 hours for each pick. The second round will be conducted via live draft and each team will have 10 minutes to make their selection, or their pick will be skipped if draft lists are not sent prior to the selection.
2. The 24 hour/10 minute clock for the next pick starts upon the pick's selection. For example Washington drafts Larry Bird at 12:01 am Friday June 17th, the Jazz then have until 12:01 am Saturday June 18th to make their pick. If the Jazz draft Magic Johnson at 5:07 am Friday June 17th, the Pistons then have until 5:07 am Saturday June 18th to make their pick, and so on.
3. To post your pick, start a new thread titled Round #, Pick #. Do not give away the player's name in the thread title. You can then give the selection in the body of the thread. An article would be awesome, but not required.
4. If you're going to shop your pick, please do it before your pick comes up. This can be done by listening to offers and making any verbal agreements contingent on X guy being available or Y team's draft being off the board. For example, say the Knicks have a verbal agreement with the Nets to move up to #15 if their target, Mateen Yeaton, isn't available at #15. If he is, the trade dissolves because the Nets take Yeaton. If he isn't, the trade goes through.
5. If you do trade your pick, it's best to do it as a draft and trade, whereby you select the player and then trade his rights to your trade partner. The NAH can not guarantee that trades will be approved in time for the new team to be able to draft, and if time runs out before the original pick owner posts the intended selection for the receiving team, someone will be receiving a zonk. A zonk means the pick will be skipped until the last pick of the draft and, unlike hard cap penalties, will be automatically assigned by the commissioner or his designated proxy. Do not let this happen to you.
6. Make sure the guy you're drafting is eligible to be selected. Selecting an ineligible player means a zonk player for the selecting team.
7. Commenting on draft selections is strongly encouraged.
8. Draft classes may or may not follow actual real-life classes. Most likely not.
9. Teams are limited to five first round selections in any given draft.
7. KAREEM RULE
If a player suffers a major injury (defined as an injury that will have the player Out for 30 days or more) to recover but he is still on the starting lineup and the General Manager of his team has not shown signs of activity such as submitting a DC, the player will be automatically put on the inactive list or at the end of the bench with a subout rate of 100. The GM will be contacted and a decision about his or her interest and continuation in the NAH will be agreed on.
8. DENVER EXCEPTION
Under special circumstances, a team over the Hard Cap will be allowed to sign a free agent during the regular season:
a) The team requesting the signing has one player injured for at least 30 days and with a status equal or below 80 %.
b) The injured player cannot be moved to the inactive list because either the team just have 12 players or all other players in the inactive list are also equal or below 80 %.
c) The team has at least one available roster spot.
d) Once the previously injured player returns, the in-season free agent signed is waived.
9. Extension Note
In-season contract extensions are banned in this league, as per the original league article notes: nah.boards.net/thread/5/world-came-say-nah-nba

2. If a team does not hold Bird Rights on a player, they will be limited to offering what they are able to other free agents not on their team. However, by not renouncing a non-Bird Rights player, teams will be able to re-sign him and continue adding to his Bird rights years. For example:

The #5 is skipped until the final draft selection in the second round is made, upon which they may choose who to draft from the remaining players (assuming no prior picks have hard cap penalty). That #5 player is then given the third year option and is trade restricted for his entire first season. Picks #10 and #15 will be selected as if the team had no penalty assigned to those picks.
