As you know, we have had some cases where players have been signed "illegally". It happened twice with the Clippers and once with the Nuggets. I do know both GM's did not do that on purpose, so there will be no other penalties other than players being released.
In the first case, which was Mark Price, I re-simmed two sims so there was no messing with the in-game financials. I could do that because those were the early days of Free Agency with very few signings.
However, as the amount of signings per day increase, re-simming is not an option, because DDS does not reproduce the same signigns in the same way with so many players involved in multiple offers.
In the Clippers four-player-signing sim, the problem was they were at the Hard Cap with 11 players, so according to our CBA they could add only one minimum player to their roster to complete a 12-player squad. They added four to a 15-player roster, instead. Since re-simming was not an option at that point of Free Agency, three players were cut. The problem is that when cutting players during Free Agency, they do not return to the FA pool until the FA period is over, and they have to be signed in-season.
In the Nuggets case, the problem is they could only offer Thompson a $3,605,503 starting salary. They had an old bid starting at $7,000,000 that they didn't remove.
So what will we do? I will open four 48-hour public bids for LaSalle Thompson, Mark West, Dudley Bradley and Mario Elie. All teams interested will post their bids, and a decision will be made taking into account the offers and the players profiles.
In the case of West, Bradley and Elie, since the Clippers cannot sign them for the reason previously stated, whoever wins the bid will sign the players right before the regular season starts and I will edit the contracts in case they sign for more than minimum.
In the case of Thompson, since the Nuggets can also bid (up to the aforementioned quantity) there are two potential scenarios. If Denver wins the bid, his contract will be edited in-game. If another team wins the bid, I will proceed in the same way previously described.
Deadline will be Sunday at 17:00 GMT.
