Game Three travels cross-country to Atlanta and the Omni. Will the fans see a close game finally, after two lopsided events in LA, one from each team?
1st Quarter: Even quarter for most of the time, with Lakers grabbing a decent lead by the end, without getting to the line once. Doc Rivers scored 11pts in the first six minutes.
Quarter running totals:
LA - ATL
Pts 27 19
FG% 63 44
Rebs 10(3) 8(4)
TOs 4 5
2nd Quarter: Lakers pull lead out further, as team is 7/11 from 3pt land in the half. Hawks also missing at line, 7/14 in the half. They need to bring the defense second half.
Quarter running totals:
LA - ATL
Pts 54 40
FG% 53 49
Rebs 19(7) 21(7)
TOs 6 9
3rd Quarter: Hawks started slow, and Gill reached his 4th foul two minutes in, and Lakers started pulling away...it appeared to be a laugher, and then Hawks made a flurry of defensive stops/steals/breaks, to pull the game back to within five. The run fizzled, and Lakers along with Armstrong's 3-balls ended the quarter up 13.
Quarter running totals:
LA - ATL
Pts 78 65
FG% 55 50
Rebs 29(12) 25(10)
TOs 13 11
4th Quarter: Common theme....Hawks only score 4 pts in first 5 1/2 minutes of quarter, and ended up down 20. No consistent offense while Lakers shared the load and coasted to a road victory, reclaiming home court advantage.
Quarter running totals:
LA - ATL
Pts 100 85
FG% 53 47
Rebs 39(15) 34(11)
TOs 17 17
Nobody is helping Barkley. Hawks will not win without another person stepping up on offense. They also need to keep the score under 100. BJ is 11/19 3pt in the series so far..but has gotten ding...could this help Hawks? Seldom used Carey Scurry also with two straight strong games..rebounding stealing and blocking his way into minutes. It's crunch time for Hawks to respond.
