White lights have turned to red after just one month in Toronto and all eyes are on the GM, WhiteUjiri and on their supposed-to-be difference maker, Chris Paul.
15 games into the season, perennial MVP candidate's team - clearly not this season - record is 5-10, and Chris' stats are disappointing (13.5 ppg, 7.3 apg, just going to the FT line 2.8 times per game). He seems to be touched, however, by the Hosé Calderone syndrome as he's turning the ball over once every 29 minutes and shooting well from the field (.481 percentage). The other players aren't to blame as they're unexperienced and too young to play under pressure, with some of them even surpassing all of the expectatives (Vucevic making his best to be on the MIP mix as he's averaging 13.2 ppg + 8.8 rpg, and Koufos as best 6th man 14.1 + 7.1 despite both are playing less than 30 mpg).
Everybody was aware that playing in the strongest division would hurt Toronto's record, but at the same time it has made them realize that this team is not competitive against contenders. It was assumed that the Raptors wouldn't top a division formed by teams leaded by LeBron James, Kevin Durant or Dwight Howard, but some defeats are embarrassing and unacceptable as 5 of the 10 losses have been with a difference bigger than 25 points.
- 11/12 Toronto @ Charlotte 79-108 -29 points
- 11/13 Toronto @ Boston 94-126 -32 points
- 11/21 Toronto @ Orlando 83-114 -31 points
- 11/24 Brooklyn @ Toronto 122-96 -26 points
- 11/26 Boston @ Toronto 122-75 -47 points
On the other hand, coward and unidentified sources prefer to blame WhiteUjiri for building a young disfunctional backcourt orientated roster around the best PG in the game (Rajon Rondo disapproves this statement) and at the same time expect him to trade either Paul or some youth to fix the mess he has made, with the 2nd option being more likely as Paul's quality is still there and his stats are hurting his trade value.
- WhiteUjiri, wondering whether he has the assets to land GS Warriors' head doach -
.
- Chris Paul, as frustrated as every player that has worn that t-shirt in a NBA game -
