Sorry for delay in posting.
Game 5 is here....teams tied at 2-2. Will we see a game where BOTH TEAMS show up??? We haven't seen a nail biter as of yet.
1st Quarter: Slow start again, with Hawks playing stifling defense. Lakers had 6 TOs in first 6 minutes, but were down only four, 10-6, because Hawks couldn't hit shots either. Both played to almost even, 24-22 by end of quarter. We might have close one finally!
Quarter running totals:
LA - ATL
Pts 22 24
FG% 50 48
Rebs 14(5) 8(3)
TOs 7 2
2nd Quarter: Nip and tuck for a few minutes, but again the 'misfits' defense of Atlanta wreaked havoc on a team. They did it all through Eastern playoffs..and here in the finals they are making a great ball handling Laker team look sloppy. 16 TOs by halftime. Gill and Armstrong driving and converting well, helping Barkley.
Quarter running totals:
LA - ATL
Pts 41 53
FG% 47 55
Rebs 26(5) 14(3)
TOs 16 4
3rd Quarter: Halftime talks didn't stop the bleeding, as Hawks grew their lead to 20 by mid-quarter, and put 30pts up in the 3rd...can't play catchup that way. It got so bad that I even seen with just over two minutes to go, replay ticker showed Muggsy Bogues drive the lane and have a 'SLAM DUNK'?!??!?
Quarter running totals:
LA - ATL
Pts 62 83
FG% 44 57
Rebs 35(11) 26(5)
TOs 21 7
4th Quarter: Lakers never got deficit under 17. Hawks take the lead in series 3-2, and are on the brink of their first trophy.
Quarter running totals:
LA - ATL
Pts 84 108
FG% 46 58
Rebs 41(13) 33(8)
TOs 26 12
Has the extra 5 games by the older Laker team this post-season taken its' toll?? They had no life after the first 12 minutes...and a wily group of intelligent players were stolen 12 times, and Rivers and Harper EACH committed seven turnovers! Gill and Armstrong both with double figures in first half, and then Barkley took over the second half. As shown, the FG% continuously rose through the game for Hawks.
Lakers need some soul-searching to figure out how to play their style game, or it will be heartbreak city again in LA LA Land!
