Earlier today, Phoenix and New York have completed a trade that would bring Grant Hill and Kenyon Martin to the Suns in exchange for young SF Royce White and DJ White. Phoenix has an identity crisis, unsure weather to stick with the veterans and compete or rebuild with the few good young pieces that they have. When the new Suns GM arrived into office, he decided to stick with the veterans and thus traded 20 year old Royce White for 2 talented mid 30's players.
Phoenix are having issues with keeping opponents from scoring on them, in all but 3 games their opponents have scored well over 100 points and it is a big concern. Both Grant Hill and Kenyon Martin improves the teams' defense considerably. Another big concern was Jared Sullinger, a talented big man but commits nearly 3 fouls per game on average, Kenyon Martin is a more disciplined big man and although his rebounding isnt up to par with Sullinger, he does bring more defense on the table.
Phoenix currently hold a record of 7-13 and the team needs to start collecting Ws on a consistent basis in order to make the playoffs this season, and if that goal is no longer a realistic one, it would be wise for Phoenix to start on a rebuilding phase in the near future.

Good trade Visigoth, I don't know Grant Hill can offer, but Kenyon Martin will give defensive consistency (what you're looking for).

Interesting move. Since the trade you've gone 1-0 so there's that to be said for it.

It is an interesting trade. I think I like it for the Suns short-term and NY long-term.
