There are three proposals for the draft lottery system.
Default DDS system
This is the default in-game lottery that replicates the NBA lottery system.
Traditional GAH system
Non-playoff teams are sorted in inverse order of their regular season records with tiebreakers applied where needed. Then, the last team (best regular season record among non-playoff teams) is given one chance, the next one two and so on. Lottery is for all positions, not only the top three. As an example for this year lottery:
New Jersey Nets - 11
Golden State Warriors - 10
San Diego Clippers - 9
Charlotte Hornets - 8
Philadelphia 76ers - 7
San Antonio Spurs - 6
Boston Celtics - 5
Denver Nuggets - 4
Houston Rockets - 3
New York Knicks - 2
Cleveland Cavaliers - 1
Updated GAH system
Non-playoff teams are given chances proportional to their regular season record, dividing the number of lost games of each team by the number of lost games of the best non-playoff team. Then, that number multiplies the traditional GAH chance (see previous system) and the outcome is rounded with no decimals. In case of teams with the same regular season record, the final chance is the same and its value the highest of the tied teams. As an example for this year lottery:
New Jersey Nets - 16
Golden State Warriors - 16
San Diego Clippers - 13
Charlotte Hornets - 10
Philadelphia 76ers - 10
San Antonio Spurs - 7
Boston Celtics - 7
Denver Nuggets - 5
Houston Rockets - 3
New York Knicks - 2
Cleveland Cavaliers - 1
