With the 7th pick in the 1st Round of the draft, the San Diego Clippers select Zydrunas Ilgauskas!
Big Z will be joining a young Clippers team that has a good amount of talent at the guard and wing positions. However, the team is a little thin in the front court and the 7'3 Ilgauskas is sure to add a great scoring and defensive punch for the Clippers. With his big frame there is some concern about his durability, but the Clippers decided to risk it here.
Ilgauskas will become part of the young core that includes former high first round picks in Jamal Mashburn and Damon Stoudamire.

The big Z! Looks like a solid starter. Not a bad piece to have

I went back and forth all week between Camby and Ilgaukas.....both appear to be very promising. Both have durability concerns. I passed on more offense....in place of intangibles like personality and greed. I actually wanted to see Golden State take one or the other...so I didn't have to choose. Lets hope we both have a great player for yrs to come. ljw sas

I wonder if he has same durability issues to his real self earlier in his career. But no question about his offensive skillset. Was a dominant offensive rebounder at some stage

I think all 3 should be serviceable guys, but Camby definitely has the defensive advantage.

A two-way big that can be effective ... a bit lacking on the defensive boards but with a great scoring instinct.
