We win the second game, 114-99. We were excellent on offense: 57.3 % from the field, 62.5 % from three-point range (on limited attempts, though) and 82.1 % from the free throw line. Barry would have had a perfect game if not for the four fouls.

We got spanked in game 2. These injuries are such a joke.. now McInnis is out for a week. So we're without Wallace, Andersen, and McInnis for the rest of the series. Grant will play in game 3 at least...

Spurs win 116-88 at home for game 2. Another strong offensive game for Spurs...WITHOUT BJ Armstrong a factor. I didn't think that was possible with this team. "Baby Shaq" Gary Trent had a huge game...with Haywoode Workman huge off the bench 54%FG 40% 3pt 86%FT. +12asts +15FTM +9reb Trent 29pts 9rebs 7asts Petrovic 22pts 5asts 2stls (but 6TOs) Workman 19pts 5rebs 7asts 2stls Bowen 11pts 6rebs 2asts 3stls 4blks PJBrown 9pts 11rebs 3asts Sampson 10pts 7rebs 3blks 1stl 2asts Travel now to the Clipjoint…..but we also lose PG Workman for 11 days.....so four men down that account for 72mins avg on court time and 31pts 17.5rebs lost. (Camby/Mills/McKie/Workman) We are not a deep team...so these depth losses should catch up with us if they continue. We have not been a good road team all year....but split 1-1 at San Diego. Nice to see ol' 88-incher Sampson provide strong minutes. ***Derek Harper....ridiculous!! Jordan is the Steve Kerr to complement Derek Harper in this league!! He should be hottest FA next year given what he provides in the playoffs year in and year out! Best value player in the league...min-sal and lights out ! ljw SAS

Sounds like all these teams with injuries could have made stronger offers for veterans on a team tearing it down, but what do I know?

We protect home court against the still depleted Rockets and travel now to Houston. They will have Jason Kidd back for the next game and that should be a better test where we stand right now.

Got another W, but now we go to the road and see what we are really made of.

Sounds like all these teams with injuries could have made stronger offers for veterans on a team tearing it down, but what do I know? From Spurs point of view.....I'd have liked to try and bolster.....but your quality vets were $18m $13m $11m $8m $4m...and you wanted draft choices/youth. I am less then $1m under hard cap...and all my youths are cheap contracts...so even a 4m guy was not going to work.......as I couldn't take on any salaries. Plus my 1st rounder is gone next year...so I can't trade the choice one year after that per league rules (keep a 1st round every other year). And it is never wise to trade 1st rounder 2+ years in advance....as that could easily be a lottery/number one pick if your team falters unexpectedly in the upcoming year. Believe me..I looked at options..but my cap had at least my team handcuffed with the roster I have. Thanks! ljw SAS

Yep cap is the issue. Contracts have gone up but we have not seen an increase in cap for years.
Which is why teams with good vets can't get picks they want as nobody has salary free to make it happen m
