In order to give GM's a full season-offseason cycle to plan in advance, the league will expand to 27 franchises in the summer of 1992, so the 1992-93 season will be the first one with 27 teams. As usual, each and every team will have to make two items, either players under contract or first round picks, available for the expansion franchises to choose. Also, there will be some franchises relocating.

Rookie draft first (with renouncements deadline by the end of the draft), then expansion draft followed by Free Agency.

Just to clarify here can a player picked in the 1st round of this draft be put up in the expansion draft? Nothing in the CBA says you cannot do it, with the old forum being down I cannot go back and look.

I think they make their expansion selections before the rookie draft and yes, you can have a pick as one of your two potential offerings.

Therefore, rookies selected in the first round are automatically signed and under contract when the expansion draft takes places. That is not the case of rookies selected in the second round, though, as they are signed (in case they are) at the end of Free Agency.

As interim GM of the New Orleans Jazz I would like to take the time to thank the great fans of New Orleans for their support but would like to notify them and the League due to financial constraints we would like to relocate the franchise to Salt Lake City, Utah after the completion of the "92 Season.
Appreciate it.
