Jestor Stuns NAH By Accepting Lakers GMship

The Phoenix Suns and their fans were all set to cheer and welcome their new front office head. Then, without warning, prized GM candidate Jestor announced that he was accepting the position of General Manager with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Suns were stunned and left to contemplate what might have been, as Jestor instead donned the purple and gold. Meanwhile, in Lakers land, the celebrations were legion, the enthusiasm deafening in its roaring crescendo.
"Honestly, I didn't think we had any chance of getting him," said Lakers owner Jim Buss, who co-owns the team with his sister Jeanie. "We knew he was talking heavily with Phoenix, Denver, Charlotte, Boston, and Miami, among other teams, and he had initial interest in Chicago and Golden State, but we never, ever thought he would end up here. When we got the call, it was like my father, Jerry Buss, was smiling down on us from heaven."
The familial nature of the ownership was one of the things that attracted his new GM most strongly to the organization.
"To have a continuation of the family ownership... that's important to me," said Jestor in an interview shortly after his hiring was announced. "I'm very close to my own parents, and that type of close relationship played a major role in my decision to come here. There's also the matter of my best friend living in San Diego, and several other very dear friends of mine living in Los Angeles itself. I'm someone who does best when they have that kind of support system at hand, and I had no real interest in going back to the Midwest other than perhaps Chicago, which I don't love as a city."
Indeed, from the list of the teams reportedly in contention, it appears that the GM wanted to stay out West, where he's been living in Las Vegas the last few years and looking for an opportunity to move elsewhere.
"Las Vegas isn't a city that's sustainable to live in for a long time. It's great for a few years while you're young, but if you want to have children, have a long life expectancy, it's not a place you stay," he said. "But I definitely knew I wanted to stay in this part of the country. I love having the Pacific time zone, and I love the weather out here, and when I get the urge to have snow around Christmastime, I just fly back to my parents in the Midwest. One thing I've definitely always wanted to do, that I've never had a chance to, is to live on an ocean. Growing up, I lived in a city on a lake, which was awesome, but I wanted something bigger, something better."
The Lakers certainly fit that criteria, as well as appealing to Jestor's aesthetic sense with their attractive uniforms, and use of bright purple and gold in their colors.
"Oh yeah, I definitely need a pretty jersey and logo," he laughed. "What I love about the Lakers' logo is just how active and in-motion the lettering is. And of course, purple and yellow are colors that go beautifully together."
Speaking of beauty, those who know the eponymous Jestorball well know that they can look forward to a Lakers' squad that features exceptional ball security, excellent shooting accuracy, and an attempt at disruptive playmaking on defense that generates an exciting, attractive brand of basketball that's a delight to watch.
"Yeah the old cliche` about defense winning championships, but I've always found defense-first teams boring. I build my franchises on scoring and attention to the fundamentals," the GM said.
Another reason he chose the Lakers?
"I wanted something new, something different. In past leagues I've steered the Knicks, the Heat, the Suns, and the Magic. The Lakers are way out of left field, yet it's something that makes a lot of sense, particularly in a dispersal draft league, where we completely disassociate ourselves from that jackass Kobe Bryant. Sorry Kobe, you're a fantastic basketball player, and you share the name of one of my most favorite cities in the entire world, but you're a dick as a person, and you won't be here ever again."
