Again, no experience at all with AI...so asking some questions on how this will work:
I am guessing this is what happens
- After draft....cap current status of all teams posted...and entered into game engine for use in the FA period
- Renouncements are handled like before...and those are done by Commish and factored into the 'current cap'
- FA period begins
Now...onto the meat of the query and Ill give a hypothetical:
- My team loves four players equally. They are impact players..and each will command a high salary. I do not own bird rights to any.
Per the new CBA...I offer every one of the players an equal starting offer: 5yrs 8.5million, 8% raises
So given the above, how does the AI handle FA:
- Say I have $10m in soft cap space....I am allowed to enter five simultaneous offers totaling $42.5m??
- I get lucky and a player signs...I guess any subsequent player that liked my offer and was ready to sign, the AI would remove me from the running, as I now have only a few million under soft cap, right? Or could it occur that all five agree...and commish now has to cleanup the mess I have made by having 42.5m added to my cap?
- Is the AI intelligent enough for teams with Bird Rights...that they can indeed use their soft cap space and the additional cap up to hard cap in their bids??
- Does the AI actually do any sort of bargaining...whereby it sends email to teams letting them know they are 'leading...close...not in the ballpark' for the bidding? Or is it simply it takes all bids one time....decides on the winner, and signs the player with one notice?
- Does drafted players contracts get added right after draft, before FA...including second round? or is that all after FA?
One last thing I never really kept tabs on.....a player like Mark Eaton signed 3yrs, 3.5m...and then retired after first year. The team holding his contract is freed from that cap space the remaining years?? So with the new CBA whereby you can sign someone for 6 yrs with bird....it doesn't penalize you for an older vet if he doesn't want to play all six right? (preparing for next year and Sampson 'last' contract)
Thanks again.....
