The 1993 GAH Free Agency period will start on Tuesday, December 27th, afternoon GMT.
A few important things:
1. Those who voted to start later, please PM me and I will help you until you are back.
2. GM's without the game, PM me and I will send you the demands of the players you kept Bird rights to.
3. A clarification regarding Free Agency and Hard Cap. Chris asked me this privately and I think others may have the same doubts. Cap holds within the game are higher than what we used to have in the past. The important thing is that you cannot go over the Hard Cap with guaranteed contracts at the end of Free Agency. You will have to complete any vacant roster spots with minimum contracts at that point. As an example, the Chicago Bulls currently have $26,273,314 in guaranteed contracts. The Hard Cap is set at $55,272,219. That means that they can use up to $28,998,905 to bring back the players they have Bird rights to, and then complete the roster with minimum deals.
4. Teams under the Salary Cap can use either exceptions or their cap space, but not both.
5. For sign-and-trades see Section 4 of the CBA. The mother team has to sign the player, and then he can be traded under the conditions stated in the CBA.
6. Teams with MLE available:
Atlanta Hawks Detroit Pistons* Indiana Pacers - used (Sarunas Marciulionis) New York Knicks Portland Trailblazers Sacramento Kings San Antonio Spurs* Washington Bullets
7. Teams with LLE available:
Atlanta Hawks Denver Nuggets Detroit Pistons* Indiana Pacers Minnesota Timberwolves New York Knicks Portland Trailblazers Sacramento Kings San Antonio Spurs* Seattle Supersonics Washington Bullets

Yikes!!! Is the Agents of these guys thinking its the year 2015 with the initial demands?!?!?! This is going to be very interesting....might be the CPU teams that get the prized FAs if they are willing to pay the high dollars! Good luck all! FYI..I am usually available to give info to GMs without game on current demands if needed....just send me a message. ljw SAS

They will lower their demands as the days go on, but if you wait too much you risk losing on your targets. It will certainly be interesting. I'm sure there will be some surprises.

Question: Are we supposed to be able to see the "Best Offer" field filled now on players after d/l the new file?
I am not seeing any players offered anything.......and thought that was the place to at least see if you are in the running?
Thanks! ljw SAS

Also the game is letting me offer the MLE as both LA and Miami based on above I should not have it. I wont use it but cannot guarantee computer teams will do the same.

I wasn't expecting any signings.....but I was under the impression say, Rickey Green was offered $10m a yr, two yrs, by Minnesota....(total random number/player I chose)....that then we would be able to lookup Rickey Green..and see in the Best offer field....a simple entry like: 2yrs / $20,000,000 (not divulging the team with best offer..but letting all know if you are even in ballpark or should not bother) It's fine if nothing is displayed until a player is signed....I was just expecting differently. Thanks! ljw SAS

From what I have seen so far, It is filled if the player is considering the offer. If he rejected it, then it's empty. That's based on the three players Atlanta send offers to and the one from Phoenix.
As for the CPU teams, we're discussing that as they also are sending offers (I checked in Boston's case) that will put them over the Hard Cap.

Well, we have answers. The engine is allowing all teams to use MLE / LLE, because it seems to be ignoring the hard cap. If a team not allowed to use exceptions uses them, then the player will be cut.
Related to that, after discussing this with Tim, we have decided that the five teams under CPU control will be switched to human mode during FA to avoid that, and switch back again to CPU mode after FA. The five teams affected are Boston, Cleveland, Detroit, Golden State and Minnesota.
Also, since the trade between Dallas and Sacramento was processed after the first FA sim, the Kings now have to choose between using their cap space or their exceptions.

Something that may be of interest for most of us (me included) ...
It seems that, if a player is offered the same deal by two or more teams, the following happens:
1. If the player is happy, he chooses the mother team. 2. If the player is unhappy, he chooses the non-mother team. 3. If the player is completely unhappy and demanding a trade, even if the mother team is offering the extra year and raises, the player tends to sign with the non-mother team.

cool! so it now truly does pay to keep the roster in a happy state! thanks manu!
so, does my team HAVE TO have bid on a player to see what ihis market rate is? meaning, if i wanted to see what Shawn Kemp was getting for interest, i would have to make a formal bid myself?
thanks! ljw SAS

So...just noticed (duh) in the free agent offer...the player has a 'Interest' bars line item.
If that is down to nothing....should I assume he will never sign with me until last FA bid sim and no other team made a bid? Or does this Interest bar change over the course of FA.
Every 'tier 1' player that I consider are all 'no bars' for the Spurs...and 50-100% for the Pacers. (I understand that...Pacers wore the ring so optimal place in FA eyes)
What is hard to understand is that almost all players..even ones that have not played in the GAH pro level for yrs (scrubs and all)...are all no bars or little for the Spurs?? They would rather have no job then to consider a Spurs contract? I know we suck...but didn't think we were the plague??
I have targeted only one guy for Spurs this entire time..and figure he will command around the amount I have been offering. Just wondering if I am wasting my time completely..and he won't even look at us??
Also...if a dude is asking for 2yr contract....is it frowned upon by Agent if you offered more...like 4 yrs? Wondering if the player wants a short term regardless..to maybe prove for more in the future...and will not desire your team if trying to sign for longer?
Thanks as always in advance!

To be honest, I don't have an accurate answer for this one.
I think that the interest bar is just that, "interest". I wouldn't say it means the player will never sign with your team. I believe it is more like "not right now because I'm waiting on better scenarios" but that if those not present the player could consider your offer. I have been offering a contract to a player with no interest in my team in each and every sim and will probably continue to do so until he either accepts or signs elsewhere.

You are right Manu...AFTER the players have found out that working in a gas station is their alternative, the 'interest' to come to San Antonio is finally showing some bars! Thanks! ljw SAS
