Pacers made the first off-season signing since holding up the GAH trophy, by signing former Bull Sarunas Marciulionis to a 5yr $25m deal. Sarunas joins Toni in the Pacers starting lineupPacers interim GM stated, "We knew we had limited funds in this off-season, and had five open roster spaces. When we looked at our future, we of course know we have veteran players running on fumes, and do need to start looking for permanent replacements. MRR and Dunn are back, but they will need lots of rest to make it through regular season healthy, and give us a defensive boost again in crunch time." "We looked at what was available, and felt that the 6th man that got 24mpg on a 74-win team must be pretty darn good!" "Sarunas is a big man in a small man's body!", stated new teammate Toni Kukoc, "He can drive the paint and take hits and still produce, or draw fouls as good as our Towers! Plus, leave him open from outside and he'll drain that too!" Pacers get a great add, and should help bolster the roster for the next few years. Four more roster slots are available, as Birdsong, Green, Breuer, Person, and Ferry were on min contracts and FAs. Pacers have reached out to players for those slots and hope to have a few more very good signings to round out the roster that will attempt to repeat. ljw Indy Int

A great signing by the Pacers. Repeating is always difficult (it has happened just twice in 17 seasons), but the Pacers definitely look like the favourites again in the upcoming season.

Yep great pick up. If I had the exceptions I reckon we could have kept him. So I guess we will have to try find a min sal bargain to fill his role now.

I wanted Sarunas badly. I had him staying on each SIM with my offer and then he was gone. Would have loved to have him as part of the rotation in Shaqramento.
