Pacers Intermin agrees to this deal. Another shocker for hometown fans, but if they look behind the reasons for the deal, I hope they understand the main reason - Financial - Having arguably 2 of the top 5 centers currently in the league will catch up to you financially. With the change in FA, we couldn't negotiate down Admiral's contract and try and get him for less. He is a stud...max deal is what studs should get. Given this, the hit for the Towers means every year you will be looking in the bargain basement for the remaining roster and hopefully getting some semblance of a team that competes. Pacers would probably always be playoffs with just the Towers, but as shown last year with a healthy Bulls squad, we were no match. Pacers fans should want to have shots at the crown...and more than two good players moving forward is the reason.
Now, the short/long term benefits of the deal: a) Pacers get already dominant big man in Mourning, so the 'Twin Towers' moniker of the current Pacers continue, and Mourning/Olajuwon duo is still going to be dominant and tough for teams to matchup against. b) Magic comes in as a last ditch effort to try and find a championship team to be on. Will his presence mesh and make the Pacers better? I feel it was worth a shot. Better ball handlers were needed in last seasons team...and maybe he has some fire left to aid in that. Not sure if he will play a majority of his time at 1 2 or 3. Experiments will take place c) Lucious Harris - A young player with some offensive skills.....might be used to help limit the 'packing in' of the opposing defenses. d) Cap next year - Around $25m freed up in cap next year for the ability to pay Mourning a salary that he will command/deserve e) Future Center - Mourning only three years in...will of course be the heir apparent after Hakeem's contract expires, as he will be 34. This get Pacers imo a legit C for the next ten yrs regardless of retaining Hakeem.
Now..if Magic doesn't help at all, and somehow we lose Mourning to FA due to unhappiness or such, then this will be a BIG FAIL. But we felt worth the gamble. Jazz fans should also be ecstatic

The jazz agree ...... we are excited to bring David Robinson to the jazz and we have slowly been working our way up the league standings and I think this move will take us further into the playoffs nd he will bring much more offensive power to the jazz .if we can score in free agency then we could be a force ..
robinson will be our amazing centre position player
Thanks to the ljw for the smooth deal ..
Super excited to have Robinson join Houston, Harper and Christie join with jazz
