The Rockets started off with a late first rounder and put them in an awkward position to try and take the most talented but also have the opportunity to set up a decent 1-2 punch due to the snaking order of the draft. With their first round selection the Rockets invested in LaMarcus Aldridge.
Anyone who has seen a team run by general manager Billy_Bucket knows that he likes his point guards. A lot of other GM's however have similar ideas and when the Rockets were on the clock, they just didn't see any point guard talent they liked enough to go in that direction. Instead they took Aldridge who can do it all from the post position. He's a crafty scorer in the post and doesn't need much help to get his shot off from there either.
