The 1991 GAH Finals resumed with the second game between the Chicago Bulls and the Golden State Warriors. So far it had looked like the Bulls were on their way to their second ever GAH title, but were the Warriors ready to let slip such a chance?
The game started with the home team taking an early seven-point lead. Things did not look particularly well for the Warriors, specially after the landscape did not change during the second quarter. At halftime, the Bulls had a 16-points lead. The third quarter saw the visitors making an effort to stay in the game, but the Bulls increased their lead two more points. A seven-point partial win in the fourth quarter was not enough for Golden State, as Chicago took the game, 97-86, and a 2-0 lead in the series.
Michael Jordan led the team again, this time with 32 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block. The All-Star guard converted all of his 12 free throw attempts. Veteran point guard Norm Nixon had a brilliant game with 23 points, 12 assists, 2 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block, while defensive big man Tree Rollins added 11 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. The Big Three did its job, and no other player scored in double figures for the Bulls. Still, Alton Lister had a solid performance with 8 points and 9 boards.
For the Warriors it was Larry Nance who led in the scoring department with 18 points, adding also 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks. Current MVP Patrick Ewing had 17 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists, in a tough matchup against Rollins. Two other players scored in double digits for the Warriors: Dana Barros (13) and Lester Conner (12).
Game three will take place tomorrow, with the series moving to Oakland, where the Warriors are hoping the home crowd plays a role.
