And the series moved West to Oakland for the third game of the 1991 GAH Finals. After winning the first two games of the series, the Chicago Bulls had the chance to widen the gap to three games, while the Golden State Warriors needed a win ot keep themselves in the series.
The game started with both teams exchanging points, each of them scoring 23 after 12 minutes. The second quarter saw the forces being still equaled, and a tie was in the scoreboard at halftime: 47-47. But the third quarter saw the story of the previous games repeating. The Bulls took an eight-point lead at the end of the third quarter, only to increase their lead during the fourth quarter. At the end of the game, the Bulls had taken a 3-0 lead with a 107-88 win.
Michael Jordan led the team in scoring with 26 points, adding also 26 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds. But it was probably Norm Nixon who had a biggest impact on the outcome of the game. The 34-year-old point guard had 23 points, 14 assists, 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 1 block. Three other players scored in double figures for the Bulls: Hot Rod Williams (16), Sarunas Marciulionis (14) and Sam Williams (12).
The Warriors were led in scoring by reserve big man Horace Grant, who had 17 points. Still, Golden State's best player was Mark Jackson, who had 15 points, 8 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Three other Warriors scored in double digits: Patrick Ewing (16), Larry Nance (12) and Kevin McKenna (11).
Tomorrow will be a day off for both teams, with the series resuming on Saturday.
