The 1991 GAH Finals were back in Chicago for the sixth game of the series. The Bulls were up 3-2 and with a healthy roster, while the visiting Warriors had Patrick Ewing not fully recovered yet. And while everyone expected Golden State to be out of contention after game three, the two-time Western Conference champion showed its will to fight and resist.
The game started with the Bulls eager to show their two losses in a row were not a sign of decay. By the end of the first quarter, they had a 26-20 lead, which was increased by ten more points in the second quarter. The Warriors were in trouble and they needed to find an answer. The third quarter was closer, but the Bulls still increased their lead up to 19 points. And it growed again in the last quarter, as the Bulls won 102-77 and became the 1991 GAH champions.
Michael Jordan carried the load with 30 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. The Bulls defense was key, as they held the Warriors to 40.3 % shooting. Norm Nixon had 17 points, 10 assists, 7 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 blocks in another big time performance from the veteran point guard, now a three-time GAH champion (twice with Bulls and once with the Boston Celtics, as Tree Rollins). Alton Lister had an unusal productive game on the offensive end, scoring 17 points, while adding 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Forward Hot Rod Williams contributed with 17 points, too.
The Warriors never found their rhythm in this game. Ewing had 11 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 block, not bad for his condition. It was Larry Nance who led the Warriors with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 asssits and 2 blocks. Two other Warriors scored in double figures in Dana Barros (13) and Mark Jackson (10), while two others end up the game limping (Horace Grant and Kevin McKenna).
The Chicago Bulls are the 1991 GAH Champions. That is their second GAH title ever, as they won their first title in 1988.
